Up-To-The-Minute News on the Osmond Family!

Hello friends! I’m so full of news for you this month, but everything so scrambled! So much has been happening that I don’t know where to begin–and I don’t want to confuse you! But if you can keep up with all the activities–take a deep breath and read on!

Oh, but first, let me say I took gobs of notes on what all of my brothers were doing this month–then I put the notes away for a few days. When I got back to my notes to write this column–some of it didn’t make a lot of sense. So–if it seems that I’m talking about a lot of different things–it’s because I am (and because I probably couldn’t unscramble my notes very well!).

WEIGHT WATCHING

Like all girls, I’ve been watching my weight. I’m so jealous of my brothers (especially Donny)–they never have to watch what they eat. They just stay slim and fit–but me, I just look at a French fried potato and I gained five pounds!

Anyway, my mom and I planned a fantastic diet for me and so far I’ve lost eight ugly pounds! I’m so proud of myself and all the boys in my family have been making me feel great by telling me how fantastic I look! Of course, since they’re my brothers and they love me, I expect them to say nice things to me–I’m kidding! Actually, I highly recommend that if you are even a tiny bit overweight that you lose those extra pounds–I felt so much better ever since I got rid of those eight pounds!

Want to know the diet? Here it is: BREAKFAST-fresh grapefruit or one whole carrot (washed and unpeeled), LUNCH-salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and sliced carrots, DINNER-boiled chicken and salad or grapefruit. I begin the day with 15 minutes of exercising. If you try the diet–good luck and stick to it (no cheating and absolutely no snacks!).

You know about my brother Tommy marrying Lyn Heslop–right? They got some fantastic wedding gifts. The couldn’t believe how generous family and friends were! They told me that they probably won’t have to buy one single thing for their new home. They got everything they could possibly need as a wedding gift! Mother and Father gave them the most beautiful silverware I’ve ever seen!

The boys gave Tommy a bachelor party the day before the wedding–all of the boys and some of Tommy’s friends (there was 20 of them altogether) went out on the town! They went bowling, had a big buffet dinner, saw a movie, and they tell me that there was lots of clowning around and lots of laughing!

After the wedding, all of us stayed for another week at our beloved home in Utah. Father bought us two snowmobiles and we had a blast!

Alan and Wayne were the best snowmobile drivers and Donny and Jay get my vote for being the best balanced Osmond’s. We snow ski by letting the snowmobiles pull us (like waterskiing except on snow) and Donny and Jay stayed up the longest and fell down the least out of all of us!

“PUPPY LOVE”

Speaking of Donny, have you heard his new song, “Puppy Love?” It’s really a pretty song–and like all of Donny’s other songs, the other boys sing background in it. I know I sound just like a proud sister when I say this, but I’ll say it just the same–I think “Puppy Love” is one of Donny’s best songs yet (of course, I said the same thing when he recorded “Go Away Little Girl” and “Sweet and Innocent!”).

Donny still plays around with electronics! He’s amazing! His latest electronic invention is this gadget that he hooks up to the bathtub. He feels the tub and when the water level hits the level he wants, this noisy buzzer goes off to tell him that his tub is filled! Of course, the whole family now knows when Donny is going to take a bath because the buzzer has got to be one of the loudest buzzers in the state of California!

The boys have just invaded the music room (where I’m writing this column). They want to work on some of their new songs, and I don’t want to get in their way–besides I’d rather be an audience for their music right now. So until next month, keep a smile on your lips and I’ll tell you if the songs the boys are working on are as good as I think they’ll be! Bye-bye!

Editor’s note: Since I left Tiger Beat in 1972, this was the last issue that I edited and I don’t have copies of the issues going forward ?
